The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple
2 February 2012
On the Day of Consecrated Life, Our Lord invites us to a common celebration in thanksgiving to Him for this unique gift and for the beauty of a religious vocation. This feast invites us to the venue of the Lord's temple, where Holy Mother Mary offers the best Gift, which she has received – her Son, Jesus Christ. The Blessed Mother, by offering Jesus to God, also offers herself through silent, faithful and sacred service.
The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, as written by John Paul II in the Message for the I World Day of the Consecrated Life, “is an eloquent icon of the total offering of one's life for all those who are called to show forth in the Church and in the world, by means of the evangelical counsels 'the characteristic features of Jesus'. This total offering is a free, loving and radical consecration, which calls us to perfect imitation of our Lord Jesus Christ and also calls us to reveal Him to the world.
In this Jubilee Year of our Founder and on the Day of Consecrated Life, let us meditate on the writings of Pallotti on the holiness of the clergy. He wrote: Congregations, which are proud of their virtuous and holy founders, should be holy in their rules and in their members... They should become a light to the world and salt of the earth (Mt 5:13), which means that they should have holiness and such a knowledge, as to enlighten the entire world and also be this world’s guide to ardent love in holiness (from notations of SVP).
Rekindled by the charism of St. Vincent Pallottii in this Jubilee Year, let us unfurl our pride in our holy Founder, and let us never stop along the way, but as he did, let us continually seek God everywhere and in everyone, always reawakening in ourselves the desire for holiness.
Being grateful to God for every Pallottine Sister, I remain in prayer for your intentions,
