Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Romans 8,35

Greek Christ Icon, Pallotti-Huus, Niederuzwil, Schweiz - Photo: Sr. Maria Dörig

Some years ago young people in Switzerland were asked the following question:

“What do you think of Jesus Christ?”

This one answer has deeply impressed me:

“What do I think of Christ? That he is one who keeps me!”

April 2012

▪ In April Sr. Raphaela Fuchs and Sr. Maria Dörig participated in the “General Assembly of Higher Superiors” of Switzerland. In the subsequent seminar the theme was “Discernment Process in Religious Communities” guided by the renowned Jesuit, Fr. A. Riedlsperger from Vienna.

▪ Sr. Daniela Schumacher and two lay members of the “UAC West Switzerland” took part in the coordination meeting of the German UAC, which was held in Limburg.

▪ The new situation of the juridical status as a Delegature is easy for the sisters, as they had grown with the change. They see the new status as a wise, provident base for a fruitful future. They want to walk towards this future with all their strength, with healthy optimism and with faithful trust. The new status gives space to commit to the apostolic works, which the sisters are doing in their daily lives. Sr. Daniela Schumacher is engaged as the President of the “UAC East Switzerland”. She holds services with distribution of the Hl. Communion in the home for elderly, visits the sick in the town and sings in the church choir. In Niederuzwil, the people appreciate the sisters’ celebrations with Hl. Communion and the Eucharistic celebrations twice a month, held by the Pallottine Fathers. The atmosphere of the house supports very much the work of Sr. Maria Dörig, who works as spiritual director and guide of Ignatian Retreats.

God is the Center of All

Meditation hl. Niklaus von Flüe  - artistically designed:  Josua Bösch

God is the Center of all.

The outer circle is the life, the world.

HE sees me, he sees you, HE sees all of us.

HE sends us like rays into the world.

Again I return to HIM;

Because only through HIM I can live my mission

in my real world.

Sr. Maria Dörig SAC

January 2012

▪ At the end of the year 2011 the Sisters in Niederuzwil said good bye to Fr. Oswald Scheuermann, SAC in a Eucharistic celebration. In his modest way he served the community over decades, by celebrating the Eucharist regularly. He is 90 years old by now and has left for his well deserved retirement. The Sisters feel privileged that their Pallottine confreres from Gossau, in spite of the big shortage of priests in Switzerland, celebrate the Eucharist with us at regular intervals. This applies to Bernhardzell as well as to Niederuzwil. Neighbors and friends of the Sisters joyfully accept this offer. The experience fosters togetherness within the Pallottine Family. Thus we feel hope and joy, as Frs. Freddy, Michael and Gregory, three young confreres from India are members of the community of the Pallottines in Gossau. As a first step they concentrated on learning the German language.

December 2011

This year's Feast of the Immaculate Conception was not only a joyful feastday but also a significant day of history for the Swiss Region. After many years of growth and prosperity, the Region has declined in members, while increasing in age. Thus it has been decided that the status will be moved to that of a Delegature under the General Government of the Congregation seated in Rome. The Sisters are very content with this change since it relieves them of some responsibilities of a Region. (See the  article  on Switzerland under the "Blessed Beginnings" on our website.)

* Our Way of Life *

"Our diverse talents and abilities, our differences in culture, nationality and age are assets for the richness of the community. Although we may be engaged in a variety of ministries, we all share the common call to apostolic discipleship in a community of the Catholic Apostolate of St. Vincent Pallotti."(OWL, 91)

"As a community of disciples we are gathered around Jesus, the Apostle of the Eternal Father. Like the first disciples, we want to be with Jesus, be sent out by him and return to him to evaluate our service in the light of his presence." (OWL, 88)

"As Pallottines, it is our special charism to foster growth in faith and love among the laity, to awaken them to awareness of their apostolic call, and to cooperate with them in furthering the apostolic mission." (OWL, 21)

"Our relationships with one another should be marked by a love that bears all, believes all and hopes for all, a love that is neither conceited nor jealous, which hurts no one, nor is embittered or resentful. It is never discouraged but remains patient and kind. It rejoices with others and shares their suffering. It is with this kind of love that we should help and support one another." (OWL, 90)
