Since 2011

January 2012

▪ At the end of the year 2011 the Sisters in Niederuzwil said good bye to Fr. Oswald Scheuermann, SAC in a Eucharistic celebration. In his modest way he served the community over decades, by celebrating the Eucharist regularly. He is 90 years old by now and has left for his well deserved retirement. The Sisters feel privileged that their Pallottine confreres from Gossau, in spite of the big shortage of priests in Switzerland, celebrate the Eucharist with us at regular intervals. This applies to Bernhardzell as well as to Niederuzwil. Neighbors and friends of the Sisters joyfully accept this offer. The experience fosters togetherness within the Pallottine Family. Thus we feel hope and joy, as Frs. Freddy, Michael and Gregory, three young confreres from India are members of the community of the Pallottines in Gossau. As a first step they concentrated on learning the German language.

▪ Fully in the spirit of Pallotti the Pallottine communities celebrated the Feast of Epiphany with many friends of Pallotti and representatives of the women’ and men’s communities of the Region. The feast was organised by the Pallottines in Gossau.  In Bernhardzell as well as in Niederuzwil we celebrated during these days the Feast of Vincent Pallotti. In the Triduum we were touched anew and more deeply by his charisma and our calling.

▪ During these days the World Economic Forum is starting in Switzerland with the presence of personalities from economy and politics. Together with many people of good will we are looking forward to seeing at least small steps towards a world in which there will be more space for justice, peace, freedom and human dignity.

* Our Way of Life *

"Our diverse talents and abilities, our differences in culture, nationality and age are assets for the richness of the community. Although we may be engaged in a variety of ministries, we all share the common call to apostolic discipleship in a community of the Catholic Apostolate of St. Vincent Pallotti."(OWL, 91)

"Christ, the Apostle of the Eternal Father, and his mission are central to our personal and community life, giving meaning and direction to our thinking, our spirituality, our prayer, action and suffering." (OWL, 19)

"As a community of disciples we are gathered around Jesus, the Apostle of the Eternal Father. Like the first disciples, we want to be with Jesus, be sent out by him and return to him to evaluate our service in the light of his presence." (OWL, 88)

"As Pallottines, it is our special charism to foster growth in faith and love among the laity, to awaken them to awareness of their apostolic call, and to cooperate with them in furthering the apostolic mission." (OWL, 21)

"Our relationships with one another should be marked by a love that bears all, believes all and hopes for all, a love that is neither conceited nor jealous, which hurts no one, nor is embittered or resentful. It is never discouraged but remains patient and kind. It rejoices with others and shares their suffering. It is with this kind of love that we should help and support one another." (OWL, 90)
