▪ Every year on September 5th Teachers’ Day is celebrated. It is the day when shishya (the student) remembers his guru (teacher) and pays homage and respect to him or her. In the Infant Jesus English Medium School in Manjeshwar, where Head Mistress, Sr. Angela Swamy and two other Sisters are working, the students honored them with lighted candles and invoked God’s blessings upon them. Each teacher was also called and offered a bouquet of flowers and also some prizes.
▪ The first Provincial Chapter, with the theme “Let us be Witnesses of Hope” began on August 5th with the Holy Eucharist, presided by Fr. Joe Tauro OCD. Superior General, Sr. Izabela Świerad initiated the Chapter with an opening address. There were altogether 21 members. Fr. Joe Tauro gave a reflective talk on the following day, which was a one of silence and reflection with a question to be pondered, Lord what do you ask of us? In the ensuing days the sisters experienced the presence of the Holy Spirit as they worked through the Chapter agenda. The members elected the first Provincial Superior, Sr. J.X. Clara, and Sr. Inacinha Fernandes as Vice Provincial; elected Councilors are Srs. Mary Alangara, Isabela Tirkey and Helen Lourduswamy.
