5. COMMUNITY OF DISCIPLES OF JESUS - COMMUNION

Patroness of the month   -  Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us

Unity in diversity: the nature, gift and task of the Church community. How to be together and to live together, one with the other and one for the other? We need Mary’s trust and openness to what is new, different, unknown. The Church needs to discover Her maternal heart which beats for unity.

Intention of the month

Let us pray for the Pope and all the clergy of the Church, so that God would keep them healthy, safe, and faithful to the Gospel.

Lectio Divina

"so that you, too, may be living stones making a spiritual house as a holy priesthood to offer the spiritual sacrifices made acceptable to God through Jesus Christ (…) But you are a chosen race, a kingdom of priests, a holy nation, a people to be a personal possession to sing the praises of God who called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light"  (1 Peter 2:5.9).

St. Vincent Pallotti writes

Reason and experience show us that, ordinarily, the good that is done in isolation is lacking, uncertain, and of short duration, and the efforts of the most generous individuals cannot accomplish anything great also in the moral and religious order if not in so far as they are united and ordered to a common purpose  (OOCC IV, 122).

OWL

"Our diverse talents and abilities, our differences in culture, nationality and age are assets for the richness of the community. Although we may be engaged in a variety of ministries, we all share the common call to follow Jesus as we carry out the apostolate of St. Vincent Pallotti" (91).

Exercise

Suggestion for the community:

Try to once again take care of the time of community recreation. Find a completely different, previously not practiced way of being freely together. Spend this time getting to know each other, give yourselves time. Perhaps it is worth asking the youngest member of the community to prepare such recreation?

"Our diverse talents and abilities, our differences in culture, nationality and age are assets for the richness of the community. Although we may be engaged in a variety of ministries, we all share the common call to apostolic discipleship in a community of the Catholic Apostolate of St. Vincent Pallotti."(OWL, 91)

"Christ, the Apostle of the Eternal Father, and his mission are central to our personal and community life, giving meaning and direction to our thinking, our spirituality, our prayer, action and suffering." (OWL, 19)

"As a community of disciples we are gathered around Jesus, the Apostle of the Eternal Father. Like the first disciples, we want to be with Jesus, be sent out by him and return to him to evaluate our service in the light of his presence." (OWL, 88)

"As Pallottines, it is our special charism to foster growth in faith and love among the laity, to awaken them to awareness of their apostolic call, and to cooperate with them in furthering the apostolic mission." (OWL, 21)

"Our relationships with one another should be marked by a love that bears all, believes all and hopes for all, a love that is neither conceited nor jealous, which hurts no one, nor is embittered or resentful. It is never discouraged but remains patient and kind. It rejoices with others and shares their suffering. It is with this kind of love that we should help and support one another." (OWL, 90)
