„Do whatever he tells you” (Jn 2:5)

At the school of Mary Queen of the Apostles:

  • let us listen and contemplate on the Word of God
  • let us open ourselves to the newness of the Holy Spirit
  • let us live and speak with joy

God of Infinite Love, we live in a world longing for unity, peace and fraternity. In solidarity with all wounded creatures, we cry out to you on behalf of the peoples of all continents. You always listen to the pleas of your people and, when the fullness of time had come, you chose Mary to be the Mother of your Son.

She is the witness of evangelical listening and trust.  In obedience of faith, she placed herself into your hands: Let it be done according to your word. Mary faithfully followed Jesus and became a model of the pilgrim Church:  Do whatever He tells you. The Holy Spirit led her under the cross and then, into the Cenacle where her presence and prayer united the Apostles in the community of Christ's disciples.

Patroness of the month  -  Mary, Mother of hope, pray for us

Hope always brings newness and change. In humble and trusting fulfillment of God's will, Mary was open to the unexpected, the impossible, the incomprehensible. From the Annunciation to the Ascension, She remained faithful in hope. In the hope that has the power to make a mother out of a virgin, apostles out of fishermen, and followers of the Son out of sinners. The tenderness and care of the Mother of Hope pour out wine from the stone jars, and the new wine is poured into new wineskins. To be like Her, following her example.

Intention of the month

Let us pray for the Union of the Catholic Apostolate, so that our whole life would be an apostolate aimed at reviving faith, kindling love and strengthening hope.

Patroness of the month - Mary, Mother of the Word, pray for us

Hear, O Israel! Mary, daughter of Zion and Mother of the Word, fulfilled this Old Testament’s invitation perfectly. She preserved it, pondered upon it and faithfully hid it in Her heart. This allows us to be more mindful of God and of man.

Intention of the month

Let us pray for all apostles and missionaries, so that the Word of God may always be proclaimed, the Eucharist may be celebrated and that the gift of God's Love may be brought to all people.

Patroness of the month  -  Mary, Star of the new evangelization, pray for us

Mysticism of everyday life. It delights, attracts and gives us wings. And why does it feel so impossible? Miriam of Nazareth was a woman of simple everyday life. A woman clothed with the sun: Mother who is pregnant with the Word. Everything became possible in Her. She invariably intercedes for the world, protects her children and calls them to conversion and prayer, to immerse themselves in grace, because the Gospel resonates most fully through what is simple, ordinary.  Gospel of Life. Impossible?

Intention of the month

Let us pray for new vocations so that there will be no shortage of those who, following Jesus, will devote themselves to the work of evangelization.

Patroness of the month  -  Mary, Mother of good counsel, pray for us

The Annunciation begins Mary’s mission and Her being sent. From then on, Mary no longer belongs to Herself. Everything in Her, full of grace from the beginning, is now taken over by God. Mary, aware of the gift and the mystery that she carries within Herself, goes out to meet the other. Always open and ready to share, to give, to participate. The awareness of being sent makes one fit for the mission, and the mission blooms and bears fruit as it draws sap from the roots of the experience of being sent. The mystery of Mary is an invitation to sisterhood.

Intention of the month

Let us pray for unbelievers, so that, despite obstacles and dangers, filled with the light of the Holy Spirit, they may see the signs of God's goodness and the testimony of the good deeds of those people who believe, and joyfully find and confess faith in the one and true God, the Father of all people, and the way of salvation.

Patroness of the month   -  Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us

Unity in diversity: the nature, gift and task of the Church community. How to be together and to live together, one with the other and one for the other? We need Mary’s trust and openness to what is new, different, unknown. The Church needs to discover Her maternal heart which beats for unity.

Intention of the month

Let us pray for the Pope and all the clergy of the Church, so that God would keep them healthy, safe, and faithful to the Gospel.

Patroness of the month   -  Mary, Seat of wisdom, pray for us

Life is a constant change. And at the same time, it is staying in what was "in the beginning." Life requires discernment. Mary, wise and attentive, was always alert to God's will. She is the woman of discernment. In Bethlehem and Nazareth, on the way to Ain-Karim and on the way from Jerusalem, at the wedding at Cana and at the Cross, she remained "here and now", seeking the will of the One who chose Her.

Intention of the month

Let us pray for our Congregation, so that through a fuller participation in the mystery of Christ and the Church, we may creatively develop the charism of St. Vincent Pallotti and be authentic witnesses of God, the Infinite Love.

Patroness of the month -   Mary, Queen of Apostles, pray for us

Wherever there is a human, bonds are born. Where there is a Mother, ties become strong and faithful. Mary, present in the Cenacle teaches us how to be together, in unity. The Cenacle of Broken Bread teaches us communion. The Pallottine Cenacle is Mary, the Apostles, you, me, and always someone else ...

Intention of the month

Let us pray for Christian unity. May all those who have been sanctified by one Baptism unite in true faith and love in one Church.

Patroness of the month   -  Mary, Mother of Beautiful Love, pray for us

Consecration completely embraces the identity of the called person. It embraces, penetrates and transforms. Sometimes slowly and gradually, sometimes abruptly and quickly. Like the Spirit that descended on Mary. She was the first consecrated. As if in the blink of an eye, She became aware of Her new identity and new calling. A miracle of grace and mercy! To be with Jesus, to follow Him, to love and live.

Intention of the month

Let us pray for the Holy Church, extended to the whole world – may it persevere with unshakable faith by confessing the Name of the Lord.

Patroness of the month   -   Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us

The heart of Mary. Mary was attentive to the concerns of Her heart. Her Immaculate Heart. And in it, there was and there is, the whole world. She was attentive and alert.  Attentive with the mindfulness that embraces each and every one of us, embraces the world. Maybe that is how the secret of the meeting is born? Carrying the world in one’s heart and living in the world mindfully, but not belonging to it.

Intention of the month

Let us pray for the rulers of states: may our God and Lord direct their minds and hearts according to His will, so that there would be lasting peace and the prosperity of nations throughout the world.

"...His disciples believed in Him."

The wedding at Cana is still going on. The bride and groom, the wedding party and the guests are enjoying the delicious wine. It seems only the disciples are tasting a new. The transformed faith tastes different, as if more fresh, new, invigorating.

To live in the midst of the Canaanite jars, touching the stone and pouring the water, to hear from afar the sounds of the wedding feast, to humbly and trustingly accept "whatever he tells you", is to experience anew every day the miracle of transformation. The miracle of the wedding in Cana is the miracle of the newness of my life, celebrated step by step, moment by moment, thought by thought, emotion by emotion... until it is completely transformed. And both in the joy and in the anguish of everyday life to taste again and again the delicious wine of the Lord's Love.

"Every man at first sets forth the good wine, and when they have drunk freely, then that which is poorer. But thou hast kept the good wine until now".

Preserve love for every season. This is what reason dictates. And the Host praises the wedding party for keeping the good wine until the very end. This is not very prudent. The wisdom of love allows it to persist when it seems all is over. The miracle of transformed love, costs those who stay...despite or in spite of circumstances, in spite or in spite of reason, in spite spite of...those who stay because of...the love they have received and keep. Like servants carrying water, faithful witnesses of transformation.

"Draw out now and take to the chief steward."

"That which I have; even that which I do not have. Someone always needs it." - wrote the priest-poet.

The miracle of the wedding takes place in the offering. The gift received begins to shine when it is given. The Good News of new life in Christ cannot be lived alone. One can only celebrate the transformation together, in relationships, in community. To "draw out and take" means to be for the other, to share ourselves, to taste together the joy of the new wine.

"And they filled them to the brim."

The shore, the horizon, the border, the brim... Everything known so far. Behind them everything else, foreign unknown.

And we are still on our way. We bounce off the shore, we go to the horizon, we cross borders... we discover, we learn, we grow. Allowing ourselves to be filled "to the brim" with His grace allows us to engage in life even more. Filled, saturated

and nourished by the presence of the Lord, we can open ourselves to the unknown, to the other, to what is to come.

“Fill the jars with water”.

To abide when all around is darkness and meaninglessness. To believe when unbelief seems a closer, when unbelief seems a closer and more reliable support. To search for meaning at the bottom of the jars of one's own helplessness. Is it worth it?

Only if you trust the word. "Fill...!"

That's it. Every day anew, fill the lack and the emptiness. To carry the water of one's own humanity and to pour it into the jars of everyday life. And again, and again... And wait and believe that the Lord will change the water into what He needs to manifest Love.

To pour the water. To fill the heart. Maybe this way we become servants of the Gospel?

"...six stone water-jars were placed there, after the Jewish manner of purification, each holding two or three measures”.

The stone is safe. It suffices for itself. Closed, cold and stony.

The heart is dangerous. It is not enough for itself. Open, hot and pulsing.

Is it always able to love?

Only the tenderness of God can cleanse a stone. And it comes unexpectedly

and surprises with its effect. Love is to keep giving and offering a heart petrified by selfishness

and fearful heart and to receive a new "heart of flesh" touched with tenderness.

"God is greater than our heart," - wrote the apostle. "Two or three measures" is no measure for His love. To allow ourselves to be purified is to learn to love without measure.

3. Acceptance

" Do whatever he tells you "

Hearing the Word of the Lord. Believing that everything is possible. And to fill this Word with one´s own breath, prayer, creativity, life ...

The change begins with the accepting - of your own lack and that of the Word filled with the power of the Lord.

Then "whatever He tells you" becomes a life mission and a task that we want to fulfill for Him.

"And when the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus says to Him: "They have no more wine." - Let us try to read Jesus´ answer the following way: "Is this my business or yours, woman? Has my hour not yet come?"

"On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to this wedding."

It has been almost a year since we have been keeping our distance, limiting our meetings, contacting each other virtually, putting off invitations for some time "later"... But the wedding of our life is still going on.

* Our Way of Life *

"Our diverse talents and abilities, our differences in culture, nationality and age are assets for the richness of the community. Although we may be engaged in a variety of ministries, we all share the common call to apostolic discipleship in a community of the Catholic Apostolate of St. Vincent Pallotti."(OWL, 91)

"Christ, the Apostle of the Eternal Father, and his mission are central to our personal and community life, giving meaning and direction to our thinking, our spirituality, our prayer, action and suffering." (OWL, 19)

"As a community of disciples we are gathered around Jesus, the Apostle of the Eternal Father. Like the first disciples, we want to be with Jesus, be sent out by him and return to him to evaluate our service in the light of his presence." (OWL, 88)

"As Pallottines, it is our special charism to foster growth in faith and love among the laity, to awaken them to awareness of their apostolic call, and to cooperate with them in furthering the apostolic mission." (OWL, 21)

"Our relationships with one another should be marked by a love that bears all, believes all and hopes for all, a love that is neither conceited nor jealous, which hurts no one, nor is embittered or resentful. It is never discouraged but remains patient and kind. It rejoices with others and shares their suffering. It is with this kind of love that we should help and support one another." (OWL, 90)
