Presentation of the Lord

 2 February 2018

Dear Sisters,

Today, 2nd February, when we celebrate the Presentation of the Lord and the World Day for Consecrated Life, I think of each one of you with gratitude and present you to the Lord. On this occasion I wish to share my reflection on today's Word of God. The Church in the richness of her Liturgy invites us to see the beauty of religious consecration and its many aspects.

Repent and Believe in the Good News

                                                         Mark 1, 14-15

Dear Sisters,

With immense joy and gratitude to God, we, the members of the Formation Commission send you warm greetings from the Eternal City of Rome. The first meeting of the Commission was held in our Generalate from January 8 -13, 2018, and it consisted of the members from Poland, India, Cameroun, Tanzania and Belize.

To initiate the meeting, Sr. Izabela Świerad, Superior General, called our attention to the present situation of our entire Congregation and focused on the need of Spiritual Renewal. She also emphasized on giving much importance to On-going formation and expressed her concern of awakening each Sister to live the beauty of Consecrated life within the Pallottine Identity. Therefore, we believe it is a time to examine our vocation and the mission which the Church has entrusted to us through the Pallottine Charism.

EPIPHANY 2018

Dear Sisters,

When the Church, with its greatest desire reminds us anew of the Mystery of the Revelation of God the Son, when our Lord Jesus Christ should be known, loved and adored by the whole world, the Society (Congregazione) and the Union of the Catholic Apostolate invite all to contemplate and adore Him in this solemn Octave of Epiphany, during which the tradition and ritual prepared for these days will be embraced. (OOCC VI 170-173).

When Saint Vincent Pallotti first organized the celebration of the Octave of Epiphany in January 1836, it was in a very solemn way celebrated as the a feast of unity of people and all nations. The Founder encouraged that this solemnity would be celebrated in every place and in every environment in every way that would rekindle faith and zeal of Christians, for the greater glory of God and the salvation of souls. Through the Eucharistic celebrations, reflections on the Mystery of the Revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, he desired to reawaken faith and love for the Savior in the hearts of all. He encouraged everyone to adore the Infant Jesus as the Magi had done. By following the star they thus came to Bethlehem and gave homage and offerings to the Newborn King.

* Our Way of Life *

"Our diverse talents and abilities, our differences in culture, nationality and age are assets for the richness of the community. Although we may be engaged in a variety of ministries, we all share the common call to apostolic discipleship in a community of the Catholic Apostolate of St. Vincent Pallotti."(OWL, 91)

"Christ, the Apostle of the Eternal Father, and his mission are central to our personal and community life, giving meaning and direction to our thinking, our spirituality, our prayer, action and suffering." (OWL, 19)

_____________________

"As a community of disciples we are gathered around Jesus, the Apostle of the Eternal Father. Like the first disciples, we want to be with Jesus, be sent out by him and return to him to evaluate our service in the light of his presence." (OWL, 88)

"As Pallottines, it is our special charism to foster growth in faith and love among the laity, to awaken them to awareness of their apostolic call, and to cooperate with them in furthering the apostolic mission." (OWL, 21)

"Our relationships with one another should be marked by a love that bears all, believes all and hopes for all, a love that is neither conceited nor jealous, which hurts no one, nor is embittered or resentful. It is never discouraged but remains patient and kind. It rejoices with others and shares their suffering. It is with this kind of love that we should help and support one another." (OWL, 90)
