Rome

▪ During the beautiful month of Mother Mary, our two communities had candle light procession to the generalate grotto and recited the Rosary. ▪ Sisters participated in the conference organized by Pallotti Institute Rome. The theme reflected on was; “The Unity of the Rites seen in the Octave of Ephipany promoted by Pallotti”, presented by Fr. Jean Bertrand Etoundi, SAC.

▪ Sr. Izabela Świerad, Superior General had an opportunity to take part in the Celebration of 100th anniversary of Apparition of Blessed Mother in Fatima and offered prayers for all Sisters, family members and intentions of our Congregation. 

▪ Sr. Izabela, Superior General participated in the annual meeting of the UAC General Coordination Council, which was held from 19-23 May in the Cenacolo Centro in Rome. Main theme was Communion: dynamic source, goal, and fruit of mission. She also participated in the presentation organized by the UISG in Rome about the Study on International Sisters in the Unites States and the implications for Religious Life throughout the world.

▪ The Pallottines organize every year a pilgrimage to San Giorgio, ancestral village of the of the Pallotti family, where all celebrate a Pallotti Feast. Sr. Anna Małdrzykowska and Sr. Maria Ganakowska from Russia, represented our community.  

▪ The three Pallottine Major Superiors, Sr. Izabela Swierad, Fr. Jacob Nampudakam SAC and Sr. Ivete Garlet CSAC met together at Pallottine Sisters generalate to reflect on the theme Co-responsibility of the core communities for the good of the Union and our Congregations, aiming at strengthening our collaboration, communication and the Union. Consequently General Council of Pallottine Sisters and Pallottine Missionary Sisters met together to prepare for the feast of Pentecost which is the  Foundation day of two Congregations, as well as to dialogue different possibilities of collaboration in close union.▪ Among our guest we welcomed Metropolitan Archbishop of Arusha Rev. Lebulu Josaphat Louis and Bishop Jan Ozga from Cameroon.

Germany/Brazil

▪ After being a Provincial Councilor and Vicar for 9 years, Sr. Magdalene Klein has resigned from the office for health reasons. Thus a by-election became necessary. On 14th of May 2017, the Province Conference elected Sr. Astrid Meinert to the position of Vicar Provincial. We are grateful to Sr. Magdalene for her beautiful and faithful contribution to our Congregation and to the German Province and are united with her in our prayers. 

▪ Since first of May Sr. Simone Hachen has a new employment, but continued in the Caritas. She is coordinator for the community work in Weilburg, a city close to Limburg and as contact person for responsible authorities, local  associations and organizations she works with people in need and helps them to improve their living conditions.

▪ In Teresina/Brazil the Pallottine Association APEC which supports poor youth and families at the periphery of the city, celebrated 10 years of its engagement. Sr. Avani Sousa da Silva SAC and her community together with some lay members of the Union had started this initiative which meanwhile grew and is fulfilling a fruitful mission.

England/Tanzania

▪ Sr. Christine Bohr and Sr. Nancy Logue from the London community travelled to Macclesfield Hospital to visit Sr. Stella Barelli who is ill. ▪  Sr. Mary Mc Nulty, our Superior in England leaves to Tanzania for official work and  Sr. Nancy travelled for a short holiday to Ireland.

▪ This year the Church in Tanzania is celebrating the 100 year Jubilee of Priesthood since the first priest was ordained on the mainland of Tanzania. As part of the program three of our Sisters went to Ntuntu Parish for the evangelization which was organized by the Religious of the diocese.

▪ On May 8th Sr. Basilisa Jacob, our Provincial Superior, during a special Prayer Service missioned Sr. Sesilia Kimario and Sr. Veronica Ghuliku to the new mission in Zambia. We thank God for the gift of our first two missionaries to open a community outside Tanzania. They were accompanied by Sr. Redempta Mallya, Vice Provincial. At the beginning Sisters will be collaborating with the Indian Pallottine Fathers in the school apostolate in the diocese of Lusaka.

▪ Pallotti Secondary School had a joyful graduation for the Form Six students and the Rehabilitation Centre in Siuyu celebrated 10 years of Jubilee. Centre was built by Fr. Tom Ryan SAC and our sisters collaborate with him in taking care of the differently challeged children. Celebration was witnessed by Bishop , priest, religious and many well wishers.

South Africa

▪ On May 16th we celebrated the renewal of vows of Sister Promila Kiro from India. The main celebrant of Holy Eucharist was Rev. Fr. Michael Clement, SAC and con-celebrants were Rev.Fr.Ricardo Smuts and Rev. Fr. Christu Amal Raj, SAC. Our Sisters and friends participated in this joyous occassion. We thank God for the gift of Sr. Promila Kiro to our South African Province and appreciate her  mission spirit to live Pallotti’s  Charism in love and service.

USA

▪ St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation hosted their 14th. Annual GALA; the theme for this year’s event was WOODSTOCK. Attending the festivities were Srs. Gail Borgmeyer, Diane Bushee and Mary Grace Barile, along with 600+ people from the Huntington and tri-state area. Attendees experienced the unique atmosphere of the original Woodstock which took place in the summer of 1969, and were encouraged to dress the theme of the evening.  All proceeds from this GALA will help support two specific needs of the area.  The first is Kids in Motion  which has several programs for children and families. The second program that will be supported by the funds raised is St. Mary’s Hospitality House. This house, located on St. Mary’s campus, provides housing and food to guests living outside a 50 mile area.

 ▪ Our Pallotti High School in Maryland held its Senior Banquet, which was attended by Sr. Karen Lester and Sr. Stella Holisz. The Baccalaureate ceremony and Graduation Mass was on May 24th at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. The Mass was con-celebrated by Msgr. Mike Malone, Pastor of St. Mary of the Mills Parish in Laurel, and Fr. Joseph, SAC from Baltimore.  Pallotti graduated 139 students this school year.

BELIZE

▪ Beautiful celebration was organized on Mother’s Day in Nazareth and Pallotti Convent.  After a meaningful Liturgy, there were games, fun and food. It was heart touching to witness the joy in the eyes of the mothers. On this occasion the elderly at the HOPE organization also treated with surprises. The postulants took over the entertainment and their talents had the elderly laughing themselves to pieces. ▪ Sr. Ester Pauu along with many teachers participated in a Certificate Course on Religious Education and graduated in Punta Gorda. ▪ Our Diocese rocked with joy as our third Belizean Bishop was consecrated amid thousands and thousands of well wishers. There were eight Bishops of the Caribbean present, along with all the priests and religious. We pray that he will be able to lead the Church during these difficult times.

Switzerland

▪ Sr. Izabela Świerad and Sr. Anna Małdrzykowska, the General Treasurer made a visit to Switzerland from 6th-9th.They visited the Sisters and had meeting with the members of their Pallottine Association.

Poland / Russia/Belarus                                          

▪ Sr. Consolata Majewska SAC, organized two days  night prayerful vigil  in Divine Mercy Shrine in Kraków-Łagiewniki with its theme  “Go and Proclaim Love of two Hearts: the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary! ▪ On the centenary of apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, the Pallottine Family: Sisters, brothers, fathers and lay members of the UAC took part in a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Zakopane-Krzeptówki. The participants could listen to several speeches concerning the message of Fatima and pray together. During the solemn Holy Mass presided by His Excellence Archbishop Wojciech Polak, Primate of Poland, the Pallottine Family renewed an act of Entrustment of the UAC to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

▪ In Zaryczany in Ukraine, first National Congress of the UAC was held with the theme: Union – a Road to Reconciliation and Communion . Its honorary guests were: Ms Donatella Acerbi, president of the GCC from Rome, Fr. Zenon Hanas SAC, provincial, Sr. Ewa Brandt SAC, provincial councillor and Sr. Anna Ozon, president of the NCC in Poland. Four speakers: Sr. Monika Cecot SAC, Fr. Walentyn Matuszewski, Fr. Wiaczesław Gryniewicz and Ms Donatella Acerbi dealt with communion in its biblical, social and Pallottine aspects. President of the NCC UAC in the Ukraine, Sr. Jolanta Wagner SAC invited to the Congress a group of singers and dancers, who presented Ukrainian folk songs and dances as well as a group of actors from “Theatre in the New Boulevard” with a spectacle dedicated to St. Vincent Pallotti and his work. In a wonderful atmosphere, the participants of the Congress from Ukraine, Poland and Slovakia could get to know each other and be enriched with the inputs. On Saturday the Holy Mass was celebrated by H. E. Bishop Witalij Skomorowski of Kiev-Zhythomir, and on Sunday during the Eucharist presided by Fr. Rudziński SAC, five women, one of them on wheel-chair, made an act of apostolic commitment in the UAC. Pallottine Sisters from each Ukrainian community participated in the Congress as well as Sr. Galina Klimenczuk, a Ukrainian who presently works in Poland, and Sr. Małgorzata Wyrodek as an interpreter.   

INDIA

▪ Sr. Helen Lourdsamy, Provincial Superior and the Sisters of Gurundia community took part in the inauguration of the newly built chapel at the substation of Kantapali Parish Odisha. This chapel is dedicated to Mary Queen of the Apostles. People of this substation and we, are grateful to our General administration for their financial assistance.

▪ Our 14 Junior Sisters took part in annual juniorate program. They had different resource persons who enlightened them with different topics, mainly health care, time management, team work and  management of their emotions. To add color to this  seminar they had a day of outing. End of the program they renewed renewed their vows during the Eucharistic Celebration which was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Manuel Raj, SAC. ▪ Two postulants entered the Novitiate and two Novices pronounce their first vows at Deva Matha Convent in Goa. We were blessed with many well-wishers who witnessed this ceremony and joined to praise God for the gift of religious vocation in the Church.
